Pre A1 Starters Speaking Part 1

This activity gives students practice in pointing to objects/pictures that they can see.

Objectives:
 to introduce students to Part 1 of the Pre A1 Starters Speaking paper and to the task type
 to practise quick physical response to instructions.

Vocabulary :

door / porte

floor / sol

window / fenêtre

Instructions:

  1. 􀂾 Point to the wall.            􀂾                    Pointe le mur. ou Montre-moi le mur.
  2. 􀂾 Where’s the door? Show me.            Où est la porte ? Montre-moi.
  3. 􀂾 Where are the windows?                   Où sont les fenêtres ?
  4. 􀂾 Point to the picture.                           Pointe la photo. ou Montre-moi le tableau / l’image.

    Important things to know:

    􀂾 What should you say to the examiner at the start of the test? (Hello) = Que dois-tu dire à l’examinateur au début de l’épreuve ? (Hello)
    􀂾 How many pictures will you look at in Part 1 of the test? (1) = Combien d’images vas-tu regarder dans la première partie du test ? (1)
    􀂾 What should you say if you don’t understand? (e.g. I don’t understand / Can you repeat that, please? / Sorry?) = Que dois-tu dire si tu ne comprends pas ? (par exemple : Je ne comprends pas / Pouvez-vous répéter cela, s’il vous plaît ? / Désolé ?)
    􀁸It’s good to ask for repetition in English in the test, and much better than sitting in silence because they don’t know what to do. = C’est bien de demander la répétition en anglais dans le test, et c’est beaucoup mieux que de rester assis en silence parce qu’on ne sait pas quoi faire.
    􀁸 There will be one examiner and one student in the test, i.e. they will not do the test with a partner. = Il y aura un examinateur et un élève dans le test, c’est-à-dire qu’ils ne feront pas le test avec un partenaire.
